Headline: IASS belongs to the “pearls” of science

Since 23 August 2013, IASS Potsdam has been a member of the pearls – Potsdam Research Network. This interdisciplinary research network links the pearls of Potsdam’s scientific community. The aim of the foundation is to promote science, research, teaching and education in all areas, whereby a particular focus is on initiating and supporting projects and fostering young scientists. Since it was founded in 2009, 18 non-university research establishments have joined the network, including institutes in the Leibniz Association, the Helmholtz Association, the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, the Hasso Plattner Institute for Software Systems Engineering and, since August, the IASS Potsdam.

In the region Berlin-Brandenburg, and especially in Potsdam, there is a particularly high concentration of research institutions that conduct research on sustainability, energy and climate issues. “With our membership in the pearls network, we want to strengthen our collaboration with other institutes, intensify our diverse range of existing cooperations and contribute to the liveliness and quality of Potsdam as a scientific centre,” explains IASS Secretary General, Dr Mario Tobias.
