IASS present at the “Rio+20” world summit

The Institute for Sustainability Studies advocates Global Soil Week at the UN’s conference in Rio de Janeiro jointly with partners. Executive Director Dr. Klaus Töpfer participates in high-level group for sustainable forestry yesterday.

Rio+20 Secretary-General Sha Zukang’s petition to participants: “come ready to commit“ to the UN world summit Rio+20 (June 20 – June 22, 2012) and its preparatory conferences is long affirmed by the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies (IASS). The institute’s Prof. Klaus Töpfer arrived early to highlight sustainable soil and forest management. At the high-level Sustainable Development Dialogue on Forest, held on June17th, Töpfer discussed recommendations for sustainably managing forests. These recommendations will be voted in by Heads of State at the main conference that starts June 20th.
