Platform for Sustainability in Brandenburg launches Website
29.10.2019
The Platform for Sustainability in Brandenburg provides a forum for discussion and networking opportunities for sustainable development initiatives from across the state. Following the launch of its new website regional initiatives, organisations and institutions are invited to register with the platform and explore opportunities to collaborate for a more sustainable Brandenburg.
The platform, which was established in January 2019, is funded by the Ministry of Rural Development, Environment and Agriculture of the Federal State of Brandenburg and headed by Professor Ortwin Renn, Scientific Director at the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies (IASS) in Potsdam. Its members include representatives from local government, the business community, welfare organisations, science and civil society, and are active in the fields of energy, tourism, nature conservation and public participation.
Creating connections for a sustainable future
The platform works to foster dialogue and cooperation between initiatives and actors across Brandenburg and provides a forum for communication for and about sustainable development. Individual topics such as digitalisation or social justice can be addressed through the platform, which will lend its weight to individual initiatives. By facilitating dialogue, the platform will support efforts by municipalities, initiatives and state government to identify opportunities to promote sustainable development and act as a catalyst for change.
Plenary session in Cottbus on 12th November
Members of the platform will meet in Cottbus on 12th November at a plenary session focused on the theme of “Zukunft Flächenland Brandenburg: Herausforderungen für Nachhaltigkeit und Regionalentwicklung” (Future Challenges for Sustainability and Regional Development in Brandenburg).
