Podcast: "Negotiating Change. Sustainability in Brandenburg"

15.10.2024

How are strategies for sustainable development implemented in Brandenburg? What obstacles are slowing progress? And what positive impacts are already evident? In a new German-language podcast – “Wandel verhandeln. Nachhaltig in Brandenburg” (Negotiating Change. Sustainability in Brandenburg) – RIFS researchers are looking for answers.

Wandel verhandeln - der Reportagepodcast

Most people in Brandenburg would like to see their state become more sustainable and achieve climate neutrality. Efforts to achieve this are inevitably accompanied by conflicts that play out in towns and villages across the region. Recent European and local elections in Brandenburg have shown that many people are no longer confident that politicians can deliver workable solutions and are not participating in important debates. In a democratic society, however, efforts to achieve sustainability and climate neutrality are only likely to succeed with the support and participation of local people.

Communication is crucial to enabling participation. The eight-episode podcast “Wandel verhandeln. Nachhaltig in Brandenburg” (“Negotiating Change. Sustainability in Brandenburg”) will contribute to public debate on sustainability in the state. In the podcast, RIFS researchers take a closer look at the conflicts arising in connection with this transformation – but also at the positive impacts and new ideas – and invite changemakers and people in the community to have their say.

The podcast will be available across all leading platforms and episodes will be released (in German only) on the following dates:
