Having worked in various fields regarding environmental management, Artur Monteiro experience ranges from oil spills monitoring and remediation, sustainable architecture, urban planning, territorial planning and socio-environmental conflicts. Currently, as an IASS Fellow, he conducts a research project concerning the better understand of international cooperation towards the conservancy of the Brazilian Amazon, especially considering GHG emissions goals, the economic alternatives and civil society resilience. Before, at the Fundação Vitória Amazônica in Manaus - Brazil, he worked with land use policies in the Amazon rainforest as well as with: urban and metropolitan development policies, water management and threatened species conservation plans.
Apart from that Artur worked with the Angolan government for a joint national effort on sustainable cities, comprising on a long-term course and worked at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games Organizing Committee at the Sustainability Team.
He received his Master in Urbanism from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in 2015 and his Bachelor's in Environmental Management from the University of São Paulo in 2010.
