Julius Rathgens is sustainability scientist and research associate in the Science Platform Sustainability 2030 since 2023. His research deals with the monitoring of the German Sustainability Strategy. Here, his focus is on transformation research of institutional frameworks, specifically the aspect of interdepartmental cooperation. Previously, he worked in the research project "Processes of Sustainability Transformation", funded by the Robert Bosch Foundation. His PhD thesis was about the drivers and barriers of sustainability transformation in the global coffee sector with a special focus on climate change perceptions of coffee cooperatives in Uganda and situational constraints on sustainable consumption behavior of German consumers. Additionally, he worked at the Leuphana University of Lüneburg as a research assistant and coordinator of the module "Science produces - methodological knowledge".
