Luiza Montoya Raniero

Alexander von Humboldt Foundation fellow under its International Climate Protection Program, Luiza Montoya Raniero holds a bachelor degree on Environmental Management at São Paulo University (2009) and a specialization on Sustainability Management (FIA, 2012). At the third sector, she has been locally coordinating projects on the Climate and Forests Governance Policies for the Brazilian Amazon - also her project´s focus as an RIFS fellow in cooperation with the Democratic (Re)configurations of Sustainability Transformations Research Group. Luiza analyses the Brazilian political framework at subnational level with reference to climate governance, including mapping of the existing community market initiatives and their main forest product chains. Once working in the private sector, as CSR coordinator and other posts, she has also gained experience in the agri-businesses sector at multinational companies - main responsibilities related to the implementation of Sustainable Sourcing Policy applied to grains in Amazon and Cerrado biomes, good agriculture practices, community engagement programs and IFC requirements compliance.
Climate Protection Fellow of Alexander von Humboldt Foundation at the IASS Potsdam. Luiza focuses her research project on the Climate Governance subnational policies in the Brazilian Legal Amazon, as well as the bioeconomy approach as potential tool for its local development. Luiza holds a bachelor´s degree in Environmental Management from São Paulo University and has been working within Climate and Forest Agenda in the third sector, besides the private sector, before joining IASS Potsdam.
