Overline: Roundtable
Headline: The Anthropocene Mindset

Within the roundtable, "The Anthropocene Mindset," on April 4, 2022, 10 a.m. to 2.30 p.m., 20 participants will consider interdependencies and interactions between nature, technology, and society. They will discuss how perceptions, values, and orientation within society as well as by individuals influence change, not only of society, but also of the law itself. Participants will include legal, social, political, and natural scientists and civil society actors.

This event is the first of three "Earth System Law Roundtables" to which Prof. Dr. Dr. Louis Kotzé, Klaus Töpfer Sustainability Fellow at IASS, invites researchers and civil society actors to identify creative and forward-looking principles that correspond to human behavior in a new, radically different Anthropocene epoch. Earth system law counters the formerly closed approach with a holistic, planetary, legal framework developed by diverse research disciplines in collaboration with civil society. It pays attention to the various socio-ecological crises and the interconnected modes of action of the Anthropocene. The three roundtables are planned to discuss behavioral principles, governance architecture, and ethical principles.
