Headline: Second Global Sustainability Strategy Forum - Engaging between the academic strengths of sciences, arts, and humanities and the needs of the business community

The profound challenges humanity faces arise from the inherent complexity of fulfilling the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), addressing not only climate change, but also globalization and the reaction against it, as well as pervasive digitalization and its consequences.

Many examples (inundations, bushfires, droughts, glaciers melting) all around the world bring to the fore the urgent need to work effectively between businesses, science, politics and other stakeholders in society in seeking innovative ways to meet the sustainability challenges.

Solutions to these complex, interconnected challenges (e.g., deep decarbonization, food sufficiency, conservation of biodiversity, equitable energy access) cannot be found solely through technological advancement and innovation. Engaging substantively between the academic strengths of sciences, arts, and humanities and the needs of the business community is essential for being able to address the integrated social, economic, and technical sustainability problems effectively. This is the purpose of the second Global Sustainability Strategy Forum (GSSF). This meeting of the Forum is designed to develop common strategic ground between leaders in business and sustainability science. The focus will be on the potential contributions of science to work effectively with businesses that have become committed to fostering transformation to a just and equitable sustainable society in partnership with political, social and cultural actors.
