Ingeborg Niestroy ist seit Februar 2022 Projektkoordinatorin des EU Horizon 2020 Projekts REAL-DEAL: "Reshaping citizen deliberations for the European Green Deal" - sowohl für das Arbeitspaket des RIFS als auch das Konsortium bestehend aus 16 Partnern aus Forschung und Zivilgesellschaft. Zuvor war sie am RIFS Senior Fellow, arbeitete bei der Wissenschaftsplattform Nachhaltigkeit 2030 und im Team TD-TEC - Transdisziplinäre Theorie, Evaluation und Kultur.
Sie ist (physische) Geographin und hat an der TU Berlin im Bereich Planung, Politikwissenschaften und Jura promoviert. Seit über 20 Jahren arbeitet sie in der Umwelt- und Nachhaltigkeitspolitik an den Schnittstellen von Wissenschaft, Politik und Gesellschaft - in Europa und international. Von 1999 bis 2012 leitete sie EEAC, das Netzwerk der Europäischen Umwelt- und Nachhaltigkeitsräte. 2014/2015 war sie für das Umweltministerium Rheinland-Pfalz.in der Landesvertretung in Brüssel tätig. Danach war sie in verschiedenen Projekten, Ländern und Ebenen für die Umsetzung der SDGs tätig und ist seit 2019 am RIFS.
